Live in Wonder

Mimochai is an independent art shop and drawing studio based in Los Angeles. We create to contribute to a more beautiful world. Whether that's through making peaceful artwork for your home or classes that teach mindful practice, we believe that small gestures can ripple out to meaningful change.

An Artful Offering

The art of Mimochai is the work of one individual, and all of our art, books, and classes are treated as offerings from one person to another.

As a former lawyer turned full-time creative, Mimi went through a long journey of self-realization. This is reflected in her work as well as her practice. Here, the process of making each series or class is just as important as the final outcome.

This practice is what we share in Mimochai Studio.

Artist-owned, Women-led

Mimi is the owner-artist behind Mimochai. She creates all of the artwork, designs the products, and produces the classes. All of Mimi's artwork is hand-drawn without the use of AI.

Mimochai is supported by Crescent, our community manager in the Shop and Studio, and Ana, an assistant for our market events.

STUDIO PATH

Over the Years

Mimochai started in 2015-2018 as part of a journey to find a more meaningful life. While aspects of the studio have naturally evolved over the years, we have always stood by the motto "Live in Wonder." ->

Emme & Hamstarcat

Mimochai began as a make-believe world centered on themes of exploration and adventure. Our original characters Emme and Hamstarcat can still be found in our Alphabet Adventure collection.

Alphabet Adventure

Making Picture Books

Our original goal was to make picture books for all ages, officially launching with a Kickstarter for Let's Go Explore in 2018 that raised over 400% of its goal. That support inspired us to continue on our path. We've since created three books, forming our Little Explorer collection.

Expanding Perspective

In 2022, we began to explore themes of human, nature, and spirit rooted more in the real world. We also began to study and incorporate more traditional painting techniques. Our first collection in this series was Nature Spirit, followed by The Solar Terms.

We are unifying our art practice and creative classes under the philosophy of "creating for a more beautiful world." We continue to be passionate about making art, books, and classes to support mindful creative living.
