Relaxing Lines & Shapes Drawing Practice

Relaxing Lines & Shapes Drawing Practice

This drawing exercise helps you practice drawing smooth, confident shapes, while making a cute bouquet.

1. Start with a vase shape and a shadow shape below it. Your vase can be a circle, oval, triangle, etc.

2. Add in some long curved lines for stems and branches.

3. Draw different sized circles, ellipses, or triangle shapes along the lines for your blossoms and leaves.

4. Practice more shapes by adding teaware and other accessories.

Mindful Drawing Tip: As you do this exercise, choose shapes and colors that express your mood or how you would like to feel. For example, for calm, your flowers might be made of soft blue circles; for happiness, try yellow and orange triangles for petals.

We did a version of this exercise together in one of our Draw & Breathe sessions in Mimochai Studio.

This practice is also included in our Drawing Foundations class section on Lines and Shapes. If you want to improve your drawing, read more about the class here.
